Happy Belated Thanksgiving

I just returned home late last night from a fun few days down in Connecticut visiting my cousins for Thanksgiving. Like most triathletes/runners, I ran a road race on Thursday morning – the Pequot RoadRunners Club 5 Miler. It was a huge race with just about 4,000 people participating. The course wasn’t very hilly, but [...]

Update from Chula-V

Today was my last full day in Chula Vista. The six days I spent out here definitely went by way too fast. The weather was perfect – low-70s and not a cloud in the sky. I forgot how much I love doing all the great climbs and hilly trail runs around here, and the omelets [...]

Some bad luck…

For about the past 10 days I’ve been dealing with some foot pains that have gotten gradually worse. I’m out in Phoenix for the week, and was planning on opening up my 2009 season with the Desert Classic Duathlon. However, the pain has gotten pretty bad – so much so that I saw a doctor [...]

Packin’ up and Headin’ out West…

It’s about that time of year again to start spring training in Chula Vista, California. I’m heading out West this Saturday, stopping for a week in Phoenix to stay with my grandmother and race the Desert Classic Duathlon, and continuing on to Chula on Feb 23rd. I’m so excited to get out of this cold [...]

Time to Test Out the Engine…

Tomorrow morning at 10:15 AM I will be racing in the 8th Annual Team Pyscho Indoor Time Trial held at Fastsplits Multisport. The setup is awesome: 8 Computrainers all hooked up to a big flatscreen TV so that you’re virtually racing your competitors. Last year I was third place, averaging 343 watts over 22 minutes. [...]

Training Update

It’s been a very tough past week, and I’ll cap it off tomorrow with an 11 mile run that includes a 4 mile tempo, and after that I’ll do an easy spin on the rollers. TC beat me up pretty bad on the bike these past few days with TT intervals on Tues, power intervals [...]

Not My Idea of Cross Training

I’ve been outside shoveling way too much in the past 48 hours. Yesterday it accumulated to about a foot, and this morning I awoke to another 6 or so inches. Mixing in 40 minute snow shoveling sessions with training doesn’t do a whole lot for recovery. I’ve even been considering logging this in my training [...]

Winter Training

Winter training can be boring, especially when you live in a snowy climate. However, TC and I try to do lots of little things to make it less boring. I rarely ever just sit on the Computrainer for 2 hours straight spinning at a low to moderate heart rate. TC likes to give me lots [...]

Back to the Blogosphere

Greetings all! I am happy to announce that I will be blogging regularly once again via this new Web site! I have officially started my 2009 training and couldn’t be more excited to get the racing season underway. Next week I’m heading out to Colorado Springs for 4 days to get my level I coaching [...]

Winding it Down

I have two races remaining this year: the ITU Huatulco World Cup on Oct 26 and the ITU San Francisco Continental Cup on Nov 8. Since I just finished a 4-week racing block, over the first half of this week I simply focused on recovering and getting my body back to a point where I [...]
